Hello to all -
I recently received a copy
of AeroFan issue 76 which contains an article entitled 'It suited the German
taste'. The article discusses the interest that the German Luftwaffe showed in
the Italian twin engined prototype Caproni Ca 331.
In the article, it is
mentioned that Ca 331 prototype number MM 427 was test flown at Rechlin in the
spring of 1941 by Lt. Col. Moelders who also test flew the Caproni Ca 313 G.
The Ca 331 was later evaluated by other pilots at Rechlin who deemed it
'kolossal gut'.
According to the article,
an order was placed for 1000 examples of the Ca 331. A photo of Hermann Goering
is included in the article touring the
Can someone provide
additional information about the test flights of the Ca 331 while at Rechlin? Are
photos available? Did the aircraft retain its Italian color scheme and markings
or was it repainted / remarked with Luftwaffe markings for the test flights.
Your help with these
questions is much appreciated.
Mike
